Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the upcoming Hackney Moves festival weekend, including the Hackney Half Marathon, has been postponed to 2021.

The Hackney Schools' Challenge is a youth running initiative open to primary school children of all abilities. Students are encouraged to run at home or school in the lead up to the event and participate in the Hackney Moves weekend by running a one mile course which finishes on the Hackney Half finish line.

Entries for the 2020 Schools' Challenge opens in January. All entries are managed through participating Primary Schools within the London borough of Hackney and local areas.

New for 2020

MOVING TO SATURDAY

We've moved the event to Saturday, alongside the Hackney 5k, to create a family-focused day and enable parents and teachers to access the site without the challenge of Hackney Half road closures.

FREE ENTRY

The 2020 event will be free of charge, enabling more schools and students to participate.

DIGITAL REGISTRATION

We have moved our Schools' Challenge registration online to make the process easier for both teachers and parents. No more chasing paperwork!

MARATHON KIDS PARTNERSHIP

We've partnered with Marathon Kids to provide schools with more resources to get your school running year-round. Teachers can opt-in to learning more about Marathon Kids in the registration process.
